Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February of 2020. Her largest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's early years. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when he had been drinking. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic primary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
